Which screen size should I use?
For single position viewing – such as most Home Theatres – it is an industry safe (conservative) standard that the best screen size is determined as follows:
Measure the distance from the middle of the chair you will be seated in, to the proposed screen position, divide that distance by 3, and that is the correct approximate height of the projection screen. The format you choose will not alter this measurement, as the human eye has a very wide peripheral vision (side to side), it is the top to bottom view that is the limiting factor to viewing comfort.
Now take into account the following:
- The length of your room.
- The Depth of your room.
- Suitable position for a projector.
- The lens-throw distance of your projector.
- The larger the screen, the more powerful the projector’s brightness is required.
- The distance you will be sitting in relation to the screen.
Now remember this is just a guide and you may desire a larger screen than the industry safe standard. The best option is to mark out the screen dimensions you are considering for the room on your wall and test this first. If bigger feels better and feels more involving it probably is.

Which aspect ratio should I choose?
The 3 projection screen formats are:
Video 4:3 Format – Which is the same shape as a traditional television and most computer monitor screens. Used primarily for corporate and education, which utilise a mix of computer and DVD presentations.
HDTV 16:9 Format – The most commonly used and popular format . Fits all DVD/Bluray films . This is the format for the dedicated Home Theatre family that also enjoys sports and digital tv broadcasts..
Cinemascope Anamorphic 2.35:1- Only for a dedicated film connoisseur. This style screen will fit movies perfectly within the frame only when they have been recorded in a cinemascope aspect ratio. Not suited if you watch a lot of 16.9 ratio films , foxtel , or digital tv.

The best screen for your room.
There are several types of projection screens:
Fixed Frame Screens - great choice due to their perfectly flat surface . Suitable for a dedicated wall space only.
Electric or manual Screens – Powered or manually operated.
Screen retracts after use to become less visible and allow the operation of a plasma or LED TV in the same room.
For rooms where multiple use of the space is ideal e.g. Rumpus room.

Can I adjust the black leader on my powered screen?
What is the Black Leader?
The Black leader Border is the amount of masked (painted black) material that resides above the white picture area on most powered projection screens.
All professional projection screens in 4:3 or 16.9 or 2.35:1 formats will have leader above the image area, that allows you to lower the image area down into the
room to achieve a comfortable viewing position.
Why would I need extra?
If you have a high ceiling and you need to lower your screens viewing area to a more desired height. You have a low lying cabinet and would like the screen
to sit perfectly just above this piece.
As standard, all Elegance Screens come with 400mm of leader. Elegance Screens can custom make a screen with a larger leader but please bear in mind larger
leaders can jeopardize image integrity when it comes to the flatness of the material.

Can I set a powered Elegance Screen to drop at a certain height.
Yes. All Elegance Powered Screens come with set adjustable motors to drop your screen’s viewing area to the perfect length for your room. This is set to line up seamlessly with
your projected image or to sit just above your cabinet. All the time, every-time.
What is screen gain and what is the best screen gain for my setup?
The best screen gain for for Home Cinema is 1.0 to 1.1 gain. This is the brightness of the white viewing material. Make sure your material
is matte white and has a low gain of 1.0 – 1.1 to ensure a perfect image reproduction.
Why?
High Gain Screens 1.4 to 2.0 gain always have hotspot circles on the screen. As new projectors are already bright, the need for a high gain screen is now just overkill.
In fact, a high gain screen will damage your image quality. All Elegance Screens are now 1.1 gain for the perfect viewing experience.
Remote control options.
All Elegance Screens come with remote controls as standard.
There are two ways of delivering the controls to your screen depending on your set-up.
Infra-red ( IR ) - The same remote as you would be using with most TVs. Just point and command.
Radio Frequency ( RF ) – The remote allows you to operate the screen from another room or hide the screen in the celling. Does not need line of site operation.
Elegance Screens are designed standard with RF remotes. This can be changed to IR if needed.

All Elegance Powered Screens now come with 12V Triggers.
Now you can connect your screen directly to your projector by using a 12 volt trigger cable. The way this cable operates is by the projector sending a 12v trigger to your
Elegance Screen telling it to deploy when the projector is turned on. This is a perfect one button solution for your home automation.
What is Tab Tensioning?
The aim of any professional projection screen is to have an ultra flat image.
Tab tensioning allows you to tighten the viewing surface over time as necessary. This helps maintain a perfectly flat surface with a low offset, as little as 1%.
The unique mechanism tightens the material from the sides and pulls the surface outwards, resulting in a razor sharp image similar to a fixed frame screen.
Elegance Paramount Tab Tensioned Powered screen is an ultimate product when the flattest image surface is desired.
